Town of Bargersville, Indianapolis MPO to Announce $2 Million Federal Grant for Roundabout Project

Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization Awards Town of Bargersville More Than $2 Million to Improve Safety, Traffic Flow with New Roundabout

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization (IMPO) has awarded the Town of Bargersville $2,039,280 in federal funding for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of State Road 135 and State Road 144. This strategic investment aims to enhance traffic flow, reduce delays during peak hours and improve overall safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

The intersection, which currently experiences high traffic volumes and significant delays, is a key gateway into a rapidly developing part of Johnson County. In addition to addressing traffic efficiency and safety, the roundabout will incorporate placemaking features and sustainable infrastructure, supporting the Town’s broader goals of creating an attractive, welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.

“This project is a prime example of how federal transportation funds can be leveraged to improve safety and support community growth,” said Anna Gremling, Executive Director of IMPO. “We’re proud to partner with the Town of Bargersville as they invest in infrastructure that prepares for future development while making daily commutes safer and more efficient.”

As Bargersville continues to see new residential and commercial growth, the planned roundabout is expected to play a critical role in managing the increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic drawn to the area.

“This funding from the Indy MPO is a game-changer for Bargersville,” said Dax Norton, Town Manager of Bargersville. “The new roundabout will significantly reduce congestion and improve safety for our growing population. We are grateful for this investment in our future, it will benefit residents, businesses, and visitors alike.”

Construction on the project is expected to begin as soon as 2028 and is estimated to be completed by the end of 2029.Media Contacts:
